July 4th has always been a special holiday for me and Ryan. Despite the miles between us during certain points of our lives, we have always been together on July 4th- even when I was studying abroad in Europe. Five years ago, Ryan proposed to me on July 4th in the beautiful Tennessee mountains. So it's only fitting that July 4th be Adalyn's first holiday trip. Ryan's step father, Jim Fyke, is the Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and one of the many responsibilities he has is the beautiful state parks of Tennessee. For our third year in a row, we packed up for a fun family weekend at Pickwick State Park where we enjoyed VIP treatments like a suite on the water perfect for firework watching, golf on a pristine course (men only), and homemade peach ice cream compliments of the hotel staff who love Jim. Only this time, baby girl came along. She had a great time! Her first time at the pool in her swim suit from Gigi was July 4th morning at Pickwick. Mommy dipped her toes in the pool, then of course it was nap time in the stroller!

We got dressed for the day (see above picture for the adorable outfit my aunt sent us!) and played until it was time for fireworks. We were a little worried they would scare her so we gave her the bottle about 8pm and put her to sleep. At 9 when the fireworks started, she squirmed just a little then slept right through them! We look forward to sharing the fireworks with her when she is a little bit older because we know she will love them just like we do!
Happy July 4th and thank you to all the men and women who give us freedom to enjoy this great country. We are forever grateful.
