Malloy Family Memories

Almost Six Weeks!

Thursday, May 20, 2010

A lot of people told me "just wait until she's 6 weeks old- things will get a lot better." I have to say they were right. The first six weeks, Adalyn did not like to nap during the day. And not only did she not like to nap, she liked to cry when she was awake. It made for a very tired mommy all week! She, however, slept pretty well during the night. At two weeks old, the pediatrician told us we could let her sleep up to 5 hours. At her four week visit, she weighed 10 lbs 5 oz so they told us we could let her sleep as long as she wants. I believe she has now successfully dropped her midnight feeding and consistently wakes up between 2 and 3am to eat. However, Tuesday was a promise of something even better. At 5.5 weeks, she stayed up all day long and fought sleep. By that evening, she was so tired she slept until 5:15am- yes, you read that correctly! I felt like a new woman on Wednesday! She has not repeated this yet, but it definitely gives us hope of sleeping through the night- maybe soon!

On Adalyn's 5 week birthday, Gigi, Doc, Mema, and Papa came up for another visit. We had a big lunch on Sunday and invited BMom and Fykey too. Here are some pictures from the afternoon.
